Mother's Day

We had a great weekend this past weekend. Saturday night my in-laws watched Alyson for a couple hours while Justin and I went to a comedy club. We loved the show Whitney, which has sadly been canceled. Chris D'Elia was on Whitney and came to the Addison Improv this weekend. So Justin got us tickets to have a date night out. We had a great time. He was really funny!!

 

Sunday morning we went to church and joined the church we have been visiting - Living Hope Baptist Church. I told y'all last week we had gone to have dinner with the pastor, Kyle Holland, and his family. I grew up in this church when it was called Lyons Road Baptist Church. It has changed quite a bit from long ago, but we are really excited about everything that is to come and the plans in store to bring others to know Christ. Mother's Day was the perfect opportunity to take the plunge and get in on being a part of something great!! It also just so happens that my Mom and Dad go to LHBC too...and we are working on my Sister and BIL. :)

 

After church Sunday we met my MIL, FIL, SIL, and Justin's grandmother at Snuffer's for lunch to celebrate Mother's Day. It was good....we hadn't eaten there in a really long time. Afterward we went outside to take some photos. Here are a couple from my FIL's phone...I'll get some better ones from Jenn's camera soon. 

Last week was a great week of hearing how much I'm appreciated. We get so wrapped up with life each day, it's easy to forget why we do what we do. With Nurse's day I was told by many co-workers how glad they are to have me in the building to take care of our kids, staff, and parents among all the other job duties I perform on a daily basis. Mother's Day was really nice too!! Justin and I had a long talk about me being a Mom and he had a lot of really nice things to say. That in itself made my day! I don't yet feel like the "mother role" I think about when I think of how I appreciate my Mom. I know it will come in time with Alyson getting bigger, but it was nice to hear of the impact I'm having now. Kyle's sermon really hit home with me and made me realize what a big impact I'm having now on Alyson's foundation for the rest of her life. It is truly a privilege to be Alyson's Mom and I'm honored God has put me in this position.

 

Tonight my family is all getting together to celebrate my Mom. Us kids are making my Mom and Dad dinner while they spend time playing with Alyson. :)
